Wow...How do I start. I sit here with the TV going and think about all those people in New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama. The footage is so sad. Sure some fortunate folks got out of there and yes some have gotten relief. But what about all those who are still suffering and dying. It makes me start thinking about a lot of things. Well, first I'd like to thank my parents for all they have done for me. I have recently taken a position at my place of employment that exposes me to all types of folks. Those that are wealthy and those that live in poverty. I am constantly telling those that ask me how I like my new position how grateful I am for my upbringing and the things I've been given in life. No, we were not rich in material things. No I never wanted for anything (except that pony but that's another story) but this recent tragedy in LA, MS and AL has really opened my eyes even wider and I hope it opens the eyes of others too. We need to pull together the greatest resources available to make sure we can handle situations such as these. I think we need a better plan....don't you?

My Sister, (Deborah, who changed her name to Debbie when she moved to Virginia, said it sounds more sophisticated) said to me the other day "Amy, you need to put more pictures out on your blog page, you need to keep putting new stuff out there". So I thought and thought. What should I put out there. Then as quick as a flash of light it came to me. See when I first moved to Virginia my sister and her family were so nice to me, they let me live in their home for a year (before kicking me out). My sister cooked for me. My brother-in-law gave me a job. They took care of me when I was sick and even referred me to their Dentist (which by the way is very nice). Oh, did I say dentist? Let me tell you this quick story. I had a very bad tooth ache and had to visit the dentist on a Sunday. Because he is so great, he met me at his office on a Sunday morning. He escorted me to the chair and he told me he was going to get my chart and he would be right back. When he returned he sat in the chair next to me and began to look at my chart. He said "Hmmm, I see". Now, I figured he was just reviewing my dental records but NOOOOO....He looks down at me and says "There's something in your file I would like you to take a look at Amy". Well, I was scared to death. What could it be? I must have something terribly wrong. Probably major surgery or something! So he opens the file and turns it around to me and says "Do you recognize this person?" Wellllll nowww, that person was me! It was a copy of second grade school photo. I was dressed in a blue shirt that was all wrinkled and misfitting, I had cut my own hair a few days before (in preparation of my school photo) and I'm not sure what had happened to my face. It looked pretty stupid.
So, that brings me to my current blog page. In honor of my sister, I decided to put her photo out here on my blog page. Sort of a tribute to her. After all, it is her birthday on August 29th. So here she is....one photo is how she looked as a young sweet little girl and the other is how she looks today, a grown sophisticated women. Do you see a big change???
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SBBM!!!!
